Oprah's Angel Network
Launched on September 19th, 1997, Oprah's Angel Network was designed to encourage people to make differences in the lives of others. Oprah, president and chairperson, wanted to inspire individuals around the world by helping others reach their full potential. She designed the Angel Network to serve as a public charity to other charities.
One of the specific projects that the Angel Network completed, was helping those who lost homes from Hurricane Katrina. The Angel Network restored, through funding and actual building, around 300 homes that had been destroyed throughout several Southern states.
Additional projects include building 55 rural schools in 12 countries to provide education to thousands of children and donating $1 million worth of school supplies and clothing to 18,000 impoverished South African children.
Unfortunately, the Angel Network was brought to an end in 2010 when The Oprah Winfrey Show drew to a close. Over 150,000 donors gave more than $80 million to the charity to change lives around the world.

Charities
In addition to creating a charity of her own, Oprah makes countless personal donations to charities that strive to make the world a better place. Many of these charities are dedicated to helping women and children in situations such as abuse, abandonment, and poverty. They aim to get the people out of these situations, help them recover, and eradicate the cause. Many of these charities also assist with jobs and/or education and provide programs to assist with recovery.
Oprah has also supported several organizations dedicated to educating youth around the world or working to end hunger and poverty. Additional charities that she donated to range from preventing animal cruelty, to LGBT media monitoring, to AIDS/HIV prevention education.
